Explorers Program

The Law Enforcement Explorers Post is a volunteer program with the Banning Police Department. This program allows young men and women between the ages of 14 and 21 the opportunity to learn more about the criminal justice field, while serving their community.

The program is service oriented. Explorers assist with clerical assignments, assist with traffic and crowd control, work alongside Police personnel at community events, and have the opportunity to ride with officers in the field. The Banning Police Explorers also participate in activities with Explorers from other police departments. Conferences, sporting events, and competitions are just a few of their activities.

In order to be admitted to the program, interested young people must maintain at least a 2.0 average in school, be of good standing in the community, and have no felony convictions. All Explorers must pass an interview and background investigation and upon hiring must complete an Explorers academy (ROP) during the summer, where they will be taught discipline and principals of law enforcement.

If you would like the opportunity to learn more about law enforcement and serve your community please complete the below application and stop by the Police station for submission. For more information you may contact Sgt. Patrick Kelly pkelly@banningca.gov
